SEND - Autism Resource Base

The school is committed to supporting children and young people with SEN and/or disabilities and works alongside professionals at Access to Education to ensure best outcomes for this group.

Autism Resource Base

The Resource Base opened in October 2014 to support the needs of a small group of children with an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism.

Children access a place in the Resource Base following a referral from SENAR. We consider all referrals on an individual basis looking at whether we can meet the individual child’s needs in isolation and whether we can do this with the current cohort of children we have.

The aim of The Resource Base is to support the children to access lessons and activities in the mainstream school therefore the potential to do this is a criteria for admission. We strive to support the children in developing strategies to not only help them begin to transition into a mainstream environment but also to support their social and academic needs. The children access the Early Years Foundation Stage/National Curriculum with adaptations where needed.

We treat our children with respect and dignity and their voice is fundamental to everything that we do and want to achieve.
